Verlinde (2011) proposed that gravity is not a fundamental force but a consequence of thermodynamics. In this model, spacetime is threaded by random ray paths representing its microscopic degrees of freedom. A mass excludes any ray passing through it.

The simulation samples ray configurations by Monte Carlo. When two masses are close, they share excluded rays, so more rays fit overall. The system drifts toward this higher-entropy state.
